ESPHome 2026.9.0 — faster builds and encrypted updates
Stable 2026.9.0 lands today: Noise (ChaCha20-Poly1305) encryption for OTA, parallelized PlatformIO installs, six new components, and modbus/eFuse upgrade notes.
Encrypted OTA uses the same key as API encryption to Home Assistant. Package-phase CI benchmark drops from ~36% to ~25% of build. ESP8266 native toolchain foundation is dormant until 2026.10.0.
